Özet
This study was planned and conducted in order to examine the family needs and to determine whether these needs differ according to variables of gender, family life cycles, monthly income and number of children.
The sample of the study consists of 450 married individuals, in total between 23 and 65 years working in a public institution in Ankara province. A questionnaire consisting of 2 sections was prepared so as to collect survey data. In the first section of the questionnaire, in addition to the demographical information concerning the participants, questions for determination of their status of having a house and a car as well as family life cycles are included. In the second section, there are 9 groups of needs and terms consisting of sub-items representing these groups.
In this study, it was determined that the economic needs of the family differ according to family life cycles and number of children; the physical needs of the family differ according to family life cycles; the emotional/psychological needs of the family differ according to gender and family life cycles; need of time of the family differ according to family life cycles and number of children; health, care and support service needs of the family differ according to family life cycles and number of children. Moreover, it was determined that the occupational needs differ according to gender, life cycles and number of children; the needs of transportation and communication resources differ according to family life cycles; education and information needs differ according to family life cycles, monthly revenue and number of children. On the other hand, the needs for recreation and cultural needs were found not to differ according to any variables. The married individuals were established to consider the health, care and support service needs as first priority for their families.
