Due to their high strength, lightness, design flexibility, easy shaping, rigidity, resistance to corrosion and chemical effects, heat and fire resistance, and vibration damping, composite materials are increasingly used in all manufacturing industries, especially in the aerospace industry. The composite materials used in the aviation industry are cured in heat and pressure furnaces called autoclaves. Because of their high initial investment and operating costs, efficient use of autoclave furnaces is important to control costs.
In this dissertation, a mixed integer linear programming model for autoclave loading and scheduling has been developed. The results of the modeling of autoclave loading and scheduling problems were compared and the effects of increasing the number of tools used on the result were examined and the practical usability of the model where loading and scheduling handled together was analyzed by running with the actual data of the firm.
