Özet
Script, one of the most important inventions which mankind has invented, has passed many phases from past to present. Especially the script which is produced manually up to the late Middle Ages and included periodic and local effects has become a great source for the script used present in the view of form and variety. Interest in and wonder the beauty has caused the calligraphy’s birth, which is an execution area of art. Until the era of the development of printing techniques, this development of handwritten script has provided a great deal of space for artists. Masters of script who have great contribution to the transformation of the script into a field of artistic execution through a communication, are positioned in a very important place in terms of expressing themselves and their arts. Having an important role in the development and direction of calligraphy, these masters of script have shed light on the identification and diversification of this branch of art today.
The calligraphy traditionally practiced with many materials in many field has become executable in the digital environment with using various software and interfaces. In this thesis study, it has been aimed to apply calligraphy in digital environment, to illustrate what kinds of software and interfaces are used, visual elements that affect the calligraphy and are affected by the calligraphy, also with this interaction, to raise awareness of the value they carry or create in terms of the graphic design totally and also to draw attention to this area by investigating studies in this way. In addition, with experimental studies done, it has been tried to demonstrate what the opportunities provided by the digital environment can contribute to the calligraphy or how the calligraphy can affect the typography and the graphic design.
