Mesleklerarası Simülasyon Eğitiminin Jinekolojik Onkolojide Palyatif Bakım Yeterliliklerinin Kazandırılmasına Etkisi

In the research carried out as training intervention research, a mixed method, in which quantitative and qualitative data collection methods and data analysis were combined, was used. The quantitative part of the research was conducted as a randomized control intervention study to determine the effect of interprofessional simulation training on palliative care competencies to gynecologic oncology, interdisciplinary education perceptions and teamwork attitudes of the students. The qualitative part of the research was conducted by conducting focus group interviews to in order to determine opinions, thoughts and suggestions of students about the use of simulation in interprofessional gynecologic oncology palliative care training. The sampling of the research consisted of 84 students, 22 third-grade students from Faculty of Nursing, 23 third-grade students from Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, 22 third-grade students from Department of Social Service and 17 forth-grade students from Faculty of Health Science, during the 2016-2017 academic year, spring semester and students were divided into four groups. All students have participated in “Interprofessional Gynecologic Oncology Palliative Care Training”. One week after the training, the intervention groups were applied high fidelity simulation, hybrid simulation and both simulation methods, and no simulation method was applied to the control group students. Qualitative data of the project was collected by Semi Structured Questionnaire Form, Questionnaire for Determining Palliative Care Competencies, Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale, Teamwork Attitudes Questionnaire. Data collection tools were applied to the students before the training, immediately after the simulation applications and three months after the simulation application. During the simulation exercises for the students in the intervention groups, Gynecologic Oncology Palliative Care Simulation Application Checklist was applied. The qualitative part of the study was conducted with 27 students in the intervention groups, and one week after the intervention, qualitative data were collected using the Semi-structured Focus Group Interview Questionnaire. Quantitative data were assessed by descriptive statistics, chi-square, one-way analysis of variance, repeated measures of ANOVA and Bonferroni post-Hoc test. Qualitative data were assessed by content analysis using the induction approach. In the study, it was determined that high fidelity simulation and hybrid simulations applications in interdisciplinary simulation training were increased students' total point average of palliative care competence (p = 0.001), interdisciplinary education perception (p = 0.001) and teamwork attitudes (p = 0.012). As a result of the qualitative interviews conducted one week after the interventions, it was determined that the students increased their knowledge and awareness about palliative care, understood the importance of team work, understood the importance of interdisiplinary education in undergraduate education curricula and the use of simulation in this training. As a result of the research, it is suggested that the training programs which are used together with high fidelity simulation and hybrid simulations applications in interdisiplinary training should be integrated into the undergraduate education curriculums of the future cooperating health professions.
