Kozluca Barajı (Taşova, Amasya) Rezervuarındaki Heyelanın Baraj Aşma Potansiyelinin Araştırılması
Abstract
Dams, which are very significant structures for human life, are constructed for different purposes. Particularly, in the dam reservoir areas, slope instabilies and dam failures, occurred by any reason, may cause significant losses of lives and properties. In this study, in case of the reactivation of the landslide in the left side of the reservoir area of Kozluca dam, which is planned to be constructed in Taşova (Amasya) district, it was aimed at evaluating the possibility of overtopping event caused by the wave effect from possible sliding material in the area of concern. A total of 24 slope stability analyses, taking into consideration different scenarios, were carried out for two different masses with possible sliding potential. By considering the empirical methods from which the results obtained from the analyses, the dynamic characteristics such as landslide velocity, wave height, wave velocity, wave run-up, travel time of the wave to the dam body were determined. It was also estimated that the waves, which might be resulted from the possible movement of both of the masses, could reach the dam in a short time and run-up the opposite slopes and thus causing possible additional failures. Kozluca district, located in the downstream of the dam, and agricultural areas may be negatively affected by the possible overtopping event in the study area. It is highly proposed that potential overtopping conditions gathered from this study should also be investigated by three dimensional analyses more clearly.
