Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu: Mimar Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu ve Ressam Namık İsmail'in İşbirliği
Abstract
In the thesis study named “Society for the Protection of Children Architect Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu in Collaboration with Painter Namık İsmail”, the examinations and documentations made for the protection of the meeting hall that is under the roof of the Child Protection Agency Building are assessed scientifically, and they have been put forward in entirety by supporting them with recommendations.
Within the scope of the thesis, the life of the Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu, among the architects of the First National Architecture Period, has been compiled by benefiting from his memoirs that he put down on paper himself and from the other sources about him.
Pictures and ornaments partaking in the hall were assessed by considering their motifs, compositions and colors. As a result of the carried out researches and evaluations, the names taking charge in the ornament and artistic design of the hall, and shaping the architecture and art of the period have been revealed.
Alterations that the building, construction of which was completed on 1927, and the hall, which has been actively used since the opening day, have undergone were determined. Documentations have been made within this scope, and data regarding the current protection status and the speeds of the deteriorations in the works of arts has been revealed. By this means, resource has been created for the protection-repair works that are probable to be made.
Emphasis has been laid on as some measures have to be taken for the protection of the hall and the work of arts in line with the deteriorations that are determined during the studies. And it has been emphasized that providing the proper conditions would be the most appropriate and effective study for extending their life span.
