The aim of this work, titled "Absurd as a Form of Representation," is to examine
the relationship between art and the absurd notion that is yet to be dealt with, and
to establish new dialogues with this particular reality through personal art. This
concept emerging from philosophy has emerged from contradictions arising from
the inability of human beings to meet expectations in relation to the world.
Everyone who meets with absurd in a certain period of his life has to learn to live
with absurdity. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is art. Because
art is one of the ways of realizing the field of existence.
The concept of "absurd" came up during World War II, France, especially Albert
Camus's philosophy, was first used in the field of theater and literature. In the
field of plastic arts, although there is no concept of direct absurd, close examples
have been determined as content. Examples such as Holbein's Elists, Saturn
Eating the Children of Goya, Manet's Breakfast at the Ridge were all attributed to
the same composition, due to contradictory images of reason and emotion. In
Contemporary Art, the artists who took the issue of direct absurd were discussed.
Artists such as Michael Cheval and Paco Pomet express the absurd by using
fantastic, surreal, contrary forms in the same atmosphere.
