The primary aim of the research is to examine the concepts of body, identity, and gender
identity based on the artist's anxiety and to explore how these concepts are addressed in
art and artworks. The study analyzes the evolution of contemporary art by focusing on
the meanings of anxiety, body, gender, and gender identity, utilizing the artist's anxiety
through the lens of Body and Gender Identity. In this process, particular emphasis is
placed on how the concepts of myth, mythology, fear, and gender identity are addressed
in artworks with an ironic approach.
The findings reveal that in the postmodern era, the concept of gender has emerged as a
significant issue, voiced by both society and artists. The concepts of body and gender
have been extensively explained throughout the modern and postmodern periods,
demonstrating that their representation through art is indeed possible. Furthermore, the
study investigates the concerns evoked by the body and gender concepts in relation to
artworks, disciplines, modes of expression, and the works of various artists.
In conclusion, it can be asserted that the concepts of body and gender occupy a prominent
place in contemporary art due to the anxieties artists experience about life. These concepts
have become fundamental elements shaping the forms of expression within the
overlapping and meaning-laden structures of art.
