Yükseköğretimde Bilim Diplomasisi
Özet
The aim of this research is to determine the level of impact of scientific studies conducted by higher education institutions on science diplomacy practices according to the opinions of deans and vice deans working in state and foundation universities. In the research, a cross-sectional scanning model was preferred in the quantitative research design. Data were collected using the “Science Diplomacy Scale in Higher Education” by reaching 433 deans and vice deans across Türkiye. As a result of the research, deans and vice deans stated that scientific studies conducted by higher education institutions generally have a “moderately” level impact on science diplomacy practices. Deans and vice deans stated that scientific studies in the sub-dimensions of “collaboration and scientific work” and “education and training” have a “medium” impact on science diplomacy practices; scientific studies in the sub-dimensions of “partnership and social contribution” and “institutional internationalization” have a “low” impact on science diplomacy practices. While the level of impact of scientific studies conducted by higher education institutions on science diplomacy practices shows a significant difference according to the gender of deans and vice deans, the type of faculty they work in, the type of university, the geographical region and whether they work/work abroad, it does not show a significant difference according to their age and job status. In addition, the countries within the scope of the research that effectively implement science diplomacy practices in higher education institutions are; England, USA, China, Türkiye and Iran, respectively.
