RUGGIERO LEONCAVALLO’NUN “I PAGLIACCI” OPERASININ ORKESTRA ŞEFLİĞİ VE ORKESTRA ŞEFİ-ŞANCI İLETİŞİMİ AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

This study consists of two parts: the first part provides comprehensive information about the composition history and stylistic characteristics of Ruggiero Leoncavallo's opera "I Pagliacci," one of the most frequently performed works in the opera repertoire. The second part examines the challenges that conductors may face during the interpretation of the opera, considering conducting techniques and potential difficulties in communication between the conductor and the singers.

Initially, the study details the composer's biography and the creation process of the work. It then presents essential information about the general plot, characters, and stage design of the "I Pagliacci" opera. These details are crucial for understanding the historical and artistic context of the opera. The second section analyzes the musical characteristics of the opera and the necessary communication between the conductor and the singers during the performance. The study emphasizes the importance of the conductor's mastery of technical details, taking into account orchestration and traditional interpretations.

The findings of this study reveal the musical communication challenges that conductors and singers may encounter during the interpretation of "I Pagliacci" and how these challenges can be overcome. Consequently, this analysis serves as a valuable resource for conducting students and singers who will stage the work. The study aims to provide the musical and dramatic understanding required for the successful staging of the opera.
