Throughout history, art has experienced a continuous process of change, shaped by different
periods and cultural interactions. The only thing that has not changed in this dynamic process
is man's effort to express himself. Experiencing different ways of expression, man has not
hesitated to reveal his creativity by using the opportunities offered by nature to the extent his
physical body allows. Developments in the fields of science and art show that every new thing
that exists reflects human experience. Whatever the circumstances, science and art constantly
offer innovations and creative solutions for humanity. This situation reveals the tendency to do
art and science, which is a fundamental action that offers continuity. As an area where
individuals are fed with the development they have undergone over time, museums have
successfully adapted to changing living conditions. Art, science and culture have formed an
area of unity that complements and is inseparable from each other. Museums are places that
protect and preserve cultural memory thanks to the artifacts they host. Supported by the precise
information provided by science, museums contribute to disciplines such as technology and
history, while the field of art inspires individuals as well as helping to disseminate knowledge
through these museums. The main theme of this thesis is to examine how museums contribute
to the development of artistic expressions from a broad perspective.
In this study, Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Pera Museum, Istanbul Museum of Modern
Art and Corum Museum were investigated in the formation process of artistic expression. Clay
studies and applications were conducted on the placement of the artifacts shown in museums
in memory. In addition, the concepts of art education and museum education were also
examined. In line with the wide opportunities offered by museums, the issue of how individuals
with special educational needs can receive help from museums was investigated, considering
the right of every individual to receive education and visit museums.
