In this thesis, a power converter is designed to be used in a fully regulated bus structure satellite electrical power subsystem. In the designed converter, battery charging and solar array regulation functions, which are used as separate units in conventional fully regulated busbar systems, are combined under a single topology. Although the solar array regulator designed in this thesis has the topology defined as S4R in the literature, it differs from similar studies in the literature in terms of its coverage of all operational operating modes and the board-level applications of these modes. The input voltage of the designed solar array regulator is 105-140V and the output voltage is selected to be 100V regulated at the main bus and 60-84V at the battery. The converter is designed so that the 100V main bus output power is 500W and the battery charging output power is 210W. The solar array regulator has 3 different battery charging modes: constant current, constant voltage and linear mode. The circuit components and controller parameters were determined with a maximum switching rate of 2 kHz. While a conventional buck-type battery charge regulator has an efficiency of about 92\%, the battery charge efficiency is increased to over 98\% with the designed solar array regulator. Functional tests were performed on the solar array regulator under different load current, charging current and battery voltage. The operating modes of the converter were verified in the simulation environment and then in the test environment. In the light of the studies, the advantages and disadvantages of using the designed solar array regulator in satellite power subsystems are analyzed.
