‘Lean Production’, which is defined as a field of study originating from production, has started to be referred to as “Lean Philosophy” in a more inclusive way over time. In this way, the principles in question have been adopted as important productivity tools that can offer solutions for the effective use of scarce resources in all disciplines.
The main purpose of this study is to highlight the potential benefits of Lean Philosophy in furniture and fittings design processes, which aims to eliminate waste in related processes and activities that have no value in the final product.
It is seen that the outputs of the design process in manufacturing enterprises can have great effects throughout the enterprises from planning to purchasing, from production to logistics processes. For this reason, modularity, industrial design approaches and design studies carried out with the concern of reducing waste can contribute to sustainable success.
As a result, the application of Lean Philosophy approaches makes it possible to reduce waste and utilise scarce resources more effectively. In this way, it is foreseen that significant benefits can be obtained for the entire value chain from design to production and even to the end user.
