In a world where human thought structures are constantly evolving, the emergence of postmodern thought
has also found its reflection in literature. The structures brought by modernism have been dismantled, and
texts have been produced using different techniques. In Azerbaijani literature, which encountered
postmodernism much later compared to the West, the production of postmodern texts has also begun.
This study identifies the postmodern elements in novels in Azerbaijani literature, focusing on the works
Yarımçıq Əlyazma by Kamal Abdulla, Aç, mənəm by Nərmin Kamal, Çöl by Kəramət Böyükçöl, Haramı
by Şərif Ağayar, and Səs vəya Qırmızı by Şamxal Həsənov.
First, the introduction provides information about postmodernism. Then, in the first chapter, after
discussing the development of the novel in Azerbaijani literature up to postmodern novels, detailed
summaries of the novels to be examined are provided. Following this, the elements of intertextuality,
metafiction, sexuality and pornography, detective fiction, magical realism, and alienation within the
novels are identified in the context of postmodern literature.
