This thesis aims to read Bracha L. Ettinger’s ethical theory, formed from her feminist
and psychoanalytic theories, alongside Emmanuel Levinas’s concept of the Other.
Levinas’s ethical, theological theory will be examined from a feminist perspective.
The thesis will investigate how the two philosophers can resolve the ontological gap
between the Self and the Other. Additionally, it will explore Ettinger’s connection to
art and how art can play a role in ethical theories. The thesis will examine Ettinger’s
and Levinas’s theories separately and then conduct a comparative analysis. This
study will examine the opportunities that the alternatives presented by Ettinger and
Levinas to overcome the ontological gap can provide for feminist ethical theories. It
will interpret whether the exit can be possible through art.
