Kazakçada Değer Değiştirme Kategorileri
Özet
Voice/valance changing, which reflects the relationship of the subject and object to the verb in the sentence, is generally done with morphological markings in Turkic languages. These markers not only carry a morphological value, but also closely affect syntax and meaning. Therefore, these grammatical categories were examined at the syntactic and semantic level in this study. In traditional grammar studies, valency-changing categories for Turkish and Kazakh are generally examined in terms of morphological markings. However, these structures need to be examined in more detail on the basis of different grammatical levels of the language (morphosyntax, syntax and semantics).
Valency-changing structures, which are one of the common features of Turkic languages, may differ between these languages. For example, while it is common in Turkish to make intransitive verbs passive, this is rare in Kazakh, which shows that passive structures work differently in the two languages. Similarly, reciprocal structures also differ; some meanings that are not found in Turkish are available in Kazakh. Additionally, the use of reflexive structures in Kazakh is more common than in Turkish. Such functional differences require a detailed examination of valency-changing structures in Turkic languages. This master’s thesis aims to examine Kazakh valency-changing structures by comparing them with Turkish and to investigate their different aspects. The results of the study are expected to contribute to the general typology of value change structures in Turkic languages.
