Three-dimensional computer games have gained a very important place globally in terms of today's technologies and innovative developments, have become commercial products and have demonstrated their dominance in the digital game market. In this thesis study, the importance of concept design and concept art in computer games is emphasized, and the importance of concept design is emphasized with the increase in hardware and software capabilities. Information about some of the main game engines was given, solutions to the problems encountered during this research and implementation process were presented and explanations were made.
This research and application study consists of four parts:
In the first part; A brief explanation of the concept of "game", the development of computer and digital technologies, the historical development of computer games, their types and platforms are included.
In the second part; Research on computer game engines, brief history and development of game engines are included. Thus, an idea was reached as to which game engine the prepared concepts would be most suitable for.
In the third part; The definition and application methods of concept art/design have been examined through various information on how concept designs are created. Among these, the 2D and 3D techniques used and modeling details are included under the heading "3D Modeling Techniques". Information is also provided about the design software used in game production.
In the fourth part; It includes the production of a game in the style of TPS [Third Person Shooter]. All in-game concepts, including story creation, character design, object design, environment and space designs, were designed respectively. Then, 3D models of the designed 2D concepts were created. The designed 3D concepts were transferred to the game engine and animated. Information about the solutions to the problems encountered at each stage was given and the production of the game stage was completed.
