Bir Nesne Olmanın Ötesinde Sanat Eseri
Özet
This study aims to attempt to identify the bases of how an artwork is positioned beyond being the material it is made of and how it differs from other existing objects. Thus, Heidegger’s ideas on artworks are at the center of the research. An artwork is an object that is carried by its material, however, this is a limited definition. According to Heidegger, an artwork cannot be considered in the same category as other existing objects since it has a special position that builds a world and opens space for truth to reveal itself. Therefore, treating the artwork as an object, results in not being able to touch the discourse of the work. In order to find an answer to the question of how and why an artwork is different from an existing object, the study investigated what an object is and how the artwork relates to other objects. As a result of this research, it has been discovered that the structure of artistic creation, which involves a special kind of knowledge, gives the work a privileged position among other existing things. The word techne, which was used in Ancient Greece for any act of production, including artistic creation, provides access to the world that an artwork builds and its connection to the truth. When the word techne is traced back, it is observed that artistic creation is a superior form of knowing and seeing that is inherent only to the artist as producer. It is concluded that the artwork, which comes into being through such knowledge and the act of seeing it before its formation, has a special position in which new possibilities are made visible by building a world.
