In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between the learning approaches and psychological states of Başkent University Faculty of Medicine students during the pandemic period. The Personal Information Form, Learning Approaches and Study Skills Scale, Beck Depression Scale for Primary Care, Beck Anxiety Scale, and Brief Psychological Resilience Scale were used to collect data. Considering the learning approaches of the students, the deep learning approach 57.2±8.0, surface learning approach 47.7±9.2 and strategic learning approach 68.8±11.7 are scored as shown. In our study, 55.4% of the students had depression, and 68.6% had mild to severe anxiety disorders. Being a third-year student, being a preclinical student, and not choosing the medical school voluntarily were found to be factors affecting depression; gender, being an English program student, being a first-year student, and being a preclinical student were determined to be factors affecting anxiety. In our study, the average score of our students on the Short Psychological Resilience Scale was found to be 19.0±7.2. It was observed that male gender, being in the clinical period, being a 4th year student, and choosing medical school voluntarily increased psychological resilience. When the relationship between deep learning approach and depression is examined, the presence of full mediation effect of psychological resilience; When the measurement model is examined in the relationship between strategic learning, depression and resilience, the presence of partial mediation effect; When the relationship between surface learning, depression and resilience was examined, it was determined that there was a partial mediation effect of psychological resilience.
