Human rights are expected to be protected by both people and governments. However, these rights are violated every day in different places of the world. Sometimes the violation of directly protected basic rights such as the right to security and the right to life, and sometimes the violation of basic rights such as education, health and housing, which should be protected indirectly through citizenship rights, may cause people to migrate from the places where they have lived in. After the process of migrating ends, the responsibility of protecting the human rights of migrants places upon the host country. But the people, who migrate with the hope of not to be facing abuse of basic human rights, might be exposed to similar or different types of violations in the new country which would be seen in the different aspects including social aspects. Migrants can be excluded from the society they have just joined. This rejection may lead to some problems regarding with protection of migrants` rights. Violations of rights migrants face, especially being discriminated can result in obstacles to successfully conducting the process of social acceptance and social cohesion, accomplishing and improving opportunities and capabilities of migrants as human beings. While regulating migration policies and social acceptance and social cohesion policies, using human rights as a principle can be influential to ease these impediments, while not doing that can cause tensions between two communities. In recent years Türkiye has hosted millions of immigrants who are going to live with the host community in the next years. This fact has an impact on determining the approach government will adopt while conducting those policies. In this thesis, the migration policies of Türkiye, the activities that have been done in the scope of social acceptance and social cohesion and emergent problems will be studied on the focus of human rights.
