Abstract
This study has aimed to compare the proverbs of the Korean and Turkish people, which are regarded as relatives of the Altay language according to the Altay Language Theory.
First of all, in the study, the Korean proverbs are translated into Turkish. Through this method, the Turkish readers would be able to identify the Korean proverbs. Furthermore, the concept and features of the Korean proverbs are explained. Additionally, the Korean proverbs are set in order according to the Korean alphabet.
This work reveals the interrelationships of cultures and common their thoughts in the context of proverbs. For this reason, the Turkish proverbs that have a similar meaning to the Korean proverbs have been placed underneath each Korean proverb to show the corresponding elements between the cultures of the Korean and Turkish people.
In the last part of the study, the Mongol proverbs, from the Mongols who were also Altay people as well as Koreans and Turkish people, are also added according to their similarities with the Korean and Turkish proverbs. Through the study, the proverbs of Altaic cultures that reveal commonality were found by looking at each Turkish, Korean and Mongolian proverbs.
I hope that this study, which I have conducted in the context of proverbs, will be a supportive source for researchers that study different cultures and people.
