Abstract
In this study, the finite element analysis of compliant mechanisms were performed.
The length of the links were established through the pseudo-rigid-body method.
For each analysis, the reaction forces and moments, deformations and stresses
were obtained as the mechanisms are in motion.
The finite element analysis of compliant mechanisms is not a well-known topic. In
this study, a methodology was proposed to analyze compliant mechanisms using
the finite element method. It emphasizes on the rigid and flexible body contact
definitions, proper boundary conditions, and nonlinear solution methods necessary
for such an analysis.
The accuracy of the proposed method is determined through a comparison against
the pseudo-rigid-body method and previously established test results. It was
observed that the results are in good agreement.
