Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the characteristics for the possibility of Turkish lignite to gasify in a fluidized bed gasifier under specific operation conditions. Studies were conducted in two types as experimental and model studies. In both of the methods, the connection of gas components obtained after gasification with the operation conditions was examined and the results are compared.In the experimental studies, lignites from Manisa-Soma and Kütahya-Tunçbilek areas were used. In the tests carried out under atmospheric condition with a at airfed bubbling fluidized bed type of gasifier which has the capacity of 20 kg/hour, changes in the operation conditions, such as equivalent ratio (ER), coal size effect to in gas components were analyzed. By the decrease of equivalent ratio, it was observed that CO, H2 and CH4 concentrations and gas heating value increased; while CO2 concentration, carbon conversion ratio and cold gas efficiency decreased.
