Son Dönem Osmanlı Resim Sanatında Entelektüel Kadın İmgesinin Yaratımı
Abstract
The last period of the Ottoman Empire has witnessed the Ottoman Women's Movement which
was the women’s fight against the patriarchy. The women who were responsible for this
movement have showed an intellectual character via taking action against injustice and inequality
of the patriarchy. This character was not only found in history but also in canvases. However, the
connection was not able to be interrelated between Ottoman Women's History and Ottoman
Painting. Moreover, intellectual character of Ottoman women and intellectual character of
representations of Ottoman women's image could not be revealed, until this time.
In this master's thesis entitled “The Formation of the Intellectual Women Image in Late Ottoman
Painting”, it was aimed to establish a connection between Ottoman Women's History and Ottoman
Painting and to reveal the intellectual identity of both Ottoman women and representations of
Ottoman women's image. This identity is also the focus of this research as it is the most important
point of the connection between history and the canvases.
In this context, the formation process of intellectual Ottoman women and representations of
intellectual Ottoman women's image were evaluated. Additionally, the connection between
Ottoman women and representations of Ottoman women's image was questioned, whilst
intellectual identities of Ottoman women and intellectual identities of representations of Ottoman
women's image were discussed.
