The subject of the Master's Thesis titled Middle Byzantine Period Marginal Psalters: Crucifixion Scene consists of five main sections. In the first chapter, the origin, symbolism and related topics and baps of the term cross are discussed. In the second chapter, the historical process, iconography and presentation of works in terminological terms of marginal psalters, which are illustrated manuscripts of the Middle Byzantine period, are included. In the third part, which includes the catalog section, the scenes were introduced and detailed iconographic analysis was performed. In the fourth part, the development of style interacting with historical events, and in the fifth and final chapters, the stage numbers and picture arrangement of the Crucifixion scenes, foil positions, figure numbers, picture-text relationship, iconography and stcation evaluation were examined in terms of painting style together with early, medium and late Byzantine comparison examples.
The crucifixion scene does not contain much differences in the six marginal psalters discussed in iconoclasm and later periods, iconographically and typologically. In comparison samples taken in the same or different periods, it was observed that there were differences in technical, iconographic and typological aspects.
