Akdes Nimet Kurat was one of the Turkic intellectuals who escaped from Russia to Republic of Turkey during foundation. He has many studies in history field such as Turkish history, history of Russia, Turkish-Russian relations and on many other topics. He came to Turkey in 1924, escaping from environment of oppresion and violance after the October Revolation. Here, in İstanbul University, he studied history and became the asistant of Fuat Köprülü. After doing his doctorate for four years in Germany, he came back to Turkey and had become an associate proffesor. After arguing with his mentor Köprülü, he had gone to Sweden as a guest academician. When he came back from there, he became a proffesor at Ankara University. Here, he continoued his studies until his dead.
