Özet
New techniques for all instruments were generated during the 20th century and these techniques are used by composers for experimental purposes. Piano repertoire has become one of the most attraction area of these works and significant innovations are applied to piano techniques.
This study generally focuses on the new musical pieces which includes new piano techniques and examples of these works. In addition to that, notation of these works also mentioned in this study. At first, chronologic information of these innovative approaches will be explained. Then, studies of innovator composers like Henry Cowell, John Cage and George Crumb will be explained.
This thesis is aims to be a guide to performers who want to work at this area. And also, aim of this thesis is to help to fund of opus knowledge about these new techniques and repertoire.
20th century techniques do not have strict rule of thumbs and notations, thus performers have difficulties at this area. Each composer use different notations and this cause contradictions, that is why performers should have knowledge about these works. There are not too many reference documents which contains these works, historical progress, opus examples and notations. So, this thesis aims to be a guide document for this area.
