Poverty is one of the most important problems in the world. Poverty together with global transformations which have had in the world since 1980s has come up with more different appearances specific to the city. Since migrant s shelter problems could not be resolved legally in the cities caught unprepared to migration of the countries whose population increases more rapidly than their opportunities, this problem has reflected to the urban area as squatting . In this academic work after poverty has been defined generally, Istanbul Küçükçekmece (Ayazma-Tepeüstü) has been studied as an illustration while the process of squatting, social and psychological problems which squatter housing brings with it and urban transformation projects proposed as a solution to squatter housing have been studied.
