Sıçanda alveoler defekt modelinde çift katmanlı poli(gliserol-sebakat)/TCP biyomalzemesinin kemik iyileşmesindeki etkisinin araştırılması
Özet
This study with project number FYL-2019-17747 was supported by Hacettepe University BAP Coordination Unit. In this study, we investigated the effect of tricalcium phosphate ceramic combined with elastomeric poly (glycerol-sebacate) polymer in alveolar defect. Our tissue scaffolding was developed in the laboratory of the Bioengineering Department of Hacettepe University. It was aimed to compared this developed tissue scaffold with the autograft which is accepted as the gold standard in alveolar bone defect repair. In our study, 30 male Wistar-albino rats weighing 300-350 gr were used. Regardless of the group, critical sized (7x4x3 mm) defects were created in the alveolar region of each rat. Subjects, each of which used 10 experimental animals and divided into 3 groups in total (3 groups; n=30) were examined after 6 months. Only the bone defect was created and no therapeutic application was applied to the subjects in the group formed as the control group (defect). In the group determined as the autograft group, the autograft taken from iliac region of the subjects was implanted into the damaged area. In our third group, PGS/TCP biomaterial was reconstructed in the defected alveolar region of the subjects. Samples taken from the defect regions of the rats sacrificed at the end of the 6th month were examined radiologically and histologically. Statistical analysis of the data was done.
As a result of the analyzes, ossification rate was observed mostly in the autograft group. PGS/TCP group, which was developed as a tissue scaffold and constitutes the main step of this thesis, has a positive effect on bone healing.
