Since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011, Turkey has hosted the Syrian refugees and continues to do so. According to data from the Directorate of Immigration Administration, the number of registered Syrian refugees living in Turkey and migrated to Turkey reached 3,588,131 as of 12.03.2020. For this reason, projects aiming to ensure their social cohesion, employment and language education are carried out for Syrians who are under Temporary Protection. One of these projects is the Sequa-TAMEB Project. Within the scope of the project, vocational training courses for Syrians living in Turkey are organised in the fields of molding, welding, etc. Their Turkish education is carried out by Ankara University TÖMER. According to the CEFR, participants who reach A1 language level start their vocational education.This study aims to describe the necessary vocational language skills that Syrians refugees will need in their vocations when learning Turkish as a foreign language within the Sequa-TAMEB Project in Mersin Province. In this context, a Language Skills Needs Analysis scale was developed and was applied The scale developed was applied to 70 male Syrian trainees participating in the project conducted in Mersin, and it was observed that the language skills required by the participants did not differ in terms of the vocational education they received. However, it was concluded that reading and listening skills are needed during vocational training while speaking and listening skills are necessary in work life after vocational training. The need for writing skill is last during and after vocational training.
