In this study, simulations of the off-grid photovoltaic systems with energy storage
system with selected PV modules of different technologies were performed for
Turkey's seven provinces selected from different regions and a cost analysis was
conducted to lead users. In this study, firstly, the nature of the solar radiation and
the necessary information for PV systems are described. Selecting the
components and important parameters while PV system is being designed are
discussed. PV system load characteristics and types of systems are described.
For PV system simulation, PVSYST program is preferred that is also commonly
used worldwide. Modeling stages of the off-grid PV system design for seven
provinces with the three different technologies were explained in detail and the
modeling results were analyzed.
Modelling stages of system design is so complex that it contains too many
parameters and it is forseen that the people who will design should have sufficent
bacground and knowledge. In addition, the effects of latitude, climate and
meteorological data of the selected region on modelling PV systems are significant
and it has been concluded that the selection of module technology depends on
temperature values in the region, cost, efficiency and the losses.
