Kovancı, MS., Validity and Reliability Study of the Turkish Version of Moral Distress Scale-Revised for Pediatric Nurses, Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Psychiatric Nursing Program, Master's Thesis, Ankara, 2020. This study with a methodological design was structured as a validity and reliability study for the Turkish version of the Moral Distress Scale-Revised for Pediatric Nurses (MDS-R) developed by Hamric et al. (2012) in order to measure the level of moral distress in pediatric nurses. The research was carried out between July 15, 2019 - January 1, 2020 with the participation of 210 pediatric nurses who were reached through the Pediatric Nurses Association and the Turkish Nurses Association and agreed to participate in the research. The research data were collected through “Nurse information form”, “Moral Distress Scale-Revised for Pediatric Nurses (MDSR-PN)”. The scale's validity was evaluated in terms of "language", "scope", "face" and "construct" validity. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis used to verify the original structure of the scale, the fit index values were determined to be with in the acceptable limits. Thus, explanatory factor analysis was employed to identify the factor structure in the Turkish language and culture, and a five-factor structure emerged. The five-factor structure of MDSR-PN showed that the scale was “valid." In the analyses made to evaluate the reliability of the scale, the Cronbach's Alpha value calculated for the scale was found to be 0.865. In addition, as a result of the analysis of equivalent halves for the scale, the coefficients were calculated as 0.891, and the correlation-based item analysis showed that the values were within the acceptable range and the discrimination of the items was adequate. As a result, it was determined that the Turkish version of MDSR-PN, consisting of 21 items and five sub-dimensions, is a valid and reliable measurement tool suitable for the Turkish culture. The use of the scale to determine the level of moral distress in pediatric nurses is recommended.
