İbnürrefik Ahmet Nuri Sekizinci’nin Tiyatroları Üzerine Bir İnceleme
Abstract
In the thesis, with the title “A Study on the Plays of İbnürrefik Ahmet Nuri Sekizinci”, fifty-four of his works are analysed. And in the light of these works, İbnürrefik Ahmet Nuri Sekizinci’s basic characteristics of playwrightship and his place in Turkish drama are tried to be determined. Apart from the introduction part, called An Overview of the Turkish Comedy Under the Influence of the Western Drama, the thesis contains four chapters. The first chapter is about Sekizinci’s life, the second chapter is about his playwriting. In the third chapter, there is an analyse of the genres of his plays. The structure of the plays is analysed in the last chapter.İbnürrefik Ahmet Nuri Sekizinci is one of the important playwrights of the devoloping period of turkish drama under the influence of the west, with the plays he wrote, adapted and presented. His aim is to make the audience laugh with most of his Works he wrote during the Second Constitutional Monarchy Period (II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi). From this time to his death all of his plays were staged by many other theatre groups in particular to Darülbedayi (The State Conservatoire) and Halkevleri (Community Centres). In the tradition of adaptation Sekizinci has a unique place with his fully nationalized adapted plays.
