Abstract
Identity is one of the fundamental concepts of several political movements in today s politics. Lots of people of different kinds of identity would like to be recognized as a subject, and stand against marginalization due to their identity. The basic problem revealed by these demands is that the existing policy does not only ignore differences but also owes its very existence to exclusion of others. This political mindset needs to change. However, today s political discourse based on identities only highlights empirical differences, localize the demand for justice and right, and lose its power to transform politics. The first part of this thesis deals with whether the identity of Levinas conceptualization related to the subject and the other makes it possible to think of identity on the basis of difference and responsibility. The second part presents Butler s criticism of gender and identity: the queer policy is analyzed as a solidarity policy that is not based on identity. The third
