Devlet, Sınır, Aşiret: Nusaybin Örneği
Abstract
In the early part of 20th century, nation state formation s taking a place in the Middle East; the Middle East met with the phenomenon of national boundary. Therefore, the research subject of the current study is as follows: the ethnic, cultural, social, economic, similarities differentiations, and basic dynamics in the identity formation in the new process between the Nusaybin and Qamişlo which were divided into two parts by drawing a new line between Turkey and Syrian in the early part of the twentieth century, and which were positioned opposed to each other as two cities. Around this main research question, the research subject was approached in three levels. The first level is related to historical field. Ethnic and political Kurdish nationalism, that took a form around the new nation state formations and ethno geographical and ethno demographic extensions, coming up with new boundaries, were discussed.
