The purpose of this research is to determine in primary school (basic education) to secondary education transition (TEOG) system whether there is a relationship between grades from the central exams and grades from other scores from the same courses by year 8 students who have taken 6 courses (Turkish, Mathematics, Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism, Science, Modern Languages, Religion Culture and Moral Knowledge) comparing also state and private schools. While in public schools, the correlations between TEOG scores and other scores in Turkish course vary between 0,425 and 0,782, in private schools these correlations range from 0,350 to 0,744. While the same correlations for the mathematics course were between 0.376 and 0.783 in public schools, the correlations for the same course were between -0.044 and 0.723 in private schools. While the correlations between TEOG scores and other scores for the Turkish Republic Revolution History and Kemalism course vary between 0.521 and 0.760 in public schools, the correlations of the same course in private schools range from 0.378 to 0.802. While the correlations between the TEOG scores of Science course and the other scores in the public schools range from 0.475 to 0.753, in private schools the correlations between the TEOG scores of the same course and the other scores range from 0,104 to 0,779.
