Özet
In this study it is aimed to re-question the scope of interior space in a conceptual discussion. As
attributes of interior space, the concept of interiority which is defined as individual’s most private
abstract space and the concept of situation which is defined as the intersection of time and space
are correlated. The data which has been borrowed from literature on situation and interiority later
interpreted and embodied to a design proposal.
First chapter of the study is the introduction which consist of the aim and the structure of the
study. In the second chapter, movements in relation with the concept of situation and their spatial
potentials have been analyzed. This part focuses on the Situationist movement and their theories.
In the third chapter, the avant-garde architectural groups that have adopted similar approaches
and practices of space production within the context of the Situationist movement and its
predecessors have been analyzed. In the fourth chapter, concepts of interior and interiority have
been studied and the changes in their scopes and qualities in the 19th century have been
evaluated.
According to the data on the second, third and fourth chapters, three situation potentials and
spaces of interiority proposals have been produced as the outcome. As a result of these proposals
the existence of spatial potentials of the situations and spaces of interiority have been brought for
discussion.
