The aim of this study is to reveal the awareness and opinions of Turkish teachers about writing strategies. Among the basic language skills, writing strategies play a critical role in solving the problems encountered in writing, which is the most recent and one of the difficult learning field. Teachers 'strategic writing education depends on their students' understanding of writing strategies. In this respect, it was necessary to examine the Turkish teachers' mastery of writing strategies. The study was carried out with 10 Turkish teachers working at 6th and 7th grade levels in 5 different secondary schools in 2 central districts of Van province. This study was designed with qualitative research method and descriptive survey design. Data were collected through observation and interview techniques. Permanent observations were conducted in the classrooms of the teachers who were participants of the study, and then semi-structured interviews were conducted with these teachers. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis technique. As a result of the research; It was found that Turkish teachers did not make use of writing strategies sufficiently during the pre-, during and after writing stages, it was difficult to implement some writing strategies in the Turkish Lesson Curriculum and teachers' awareness about writing strategies was low. Factors causing this situation are lack of knowledge and practice at the undergraduate level and inadequate in-service training. In the light of these conclusions reached by the researcher, some suggestions were made to improve writing strategy training.
