Cities, where more than half of the world’s populations live, have been
governed, spatially decomposed and occupied by the powerful since they were
founded. This process, which became more layered with Modernism, has led to
the complexification of the administrative dimension of the cities with the
commodification of urban space itself and its ability to change hands easily for
multiple times. Thus, at first, the spatial decomposition which is experienced
through neighborhoods, streets and areas in line with the socio-economic rules
by the governors for the ones who live in cities, evolved towards the will of selfisolation
of the people living in cities with the destruction of the urban memory
and nature during the postmodern period. Because, this indeterminate
destruction has narrowed the spaces of individuals, alienated them from the life
they live by isolating them and directly affected their daily lives. Therefore, while
“daily life and its criticism” has been among the subjects that art and philosophy
have been giving importance to since 19th century, the importance of ordinary
personal determinations about the daily life of the city has become clear day by
day. Art, with all its branches, plays an important role in emphasizing these
findings.
