This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the Turkish version (SIYKO) of the Voice-Related Quality of Life (V-RQOL) measure. Two translators translated the original V-RQOL measure from English to Turkish. Then, an expert who is knowledgeable about the subject matter merged translated measures into a single translation text, which was translated back into English by a third translator. This version was also checked before finalization. A total of 249 individuals were involved in this study; 130 of them had voice disorder complaints and 119 had no voice disorder complaints. These individuals received the V-RQOL measure, voice handicap index (VHI) and perceptual voice evaluation measures twice in 2-14 days. Reliability of each item in V-RQOL measure was calculated by using internal consistency Cronbach alpha coefficient and test-retest reliability coefficient. Construct validity of V-RQOL was determined based on strength and direction of its relation with VHI by using Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Cronbach alpha coefficient for overall V-RQOL was 0,969, dimension of physical function was 0,949, and socio-emotional domain was 0,940. In the test-retest reliability test, overall V-RQOL was found to be 0.989, physical functional subscale was 0,985, socio-emotional subscale was 0,989. The lower the VHI level, the less statistically significant physical functional, socio-emotional and overall score levels of V-RQOL were. (r=-0,927, r=-0,912, r=-0,944 and p<0,001). There was statistically significant difference in the results of the measure based on perceptual voice evaluation and V-RQOL scores (p<0,001). The results suggest that the Turkish version of the Voice-Related Quality of Life (V-RQOL) measure has reliability and validity, and may play a crucial role in evaluating patients with voice disorders.
