This study was carried out to reveal the resilience and coping styles of the professionals working in the child welfare. The study is a descriptive research designed in the general survey model. The sample of the study consisted of 108 professionals working in Ankara Family, Labor and Social Work Ministry Child Services Branch Directorate and institutions affiliated to the related directorate. The data of the research were collected prepared by the researcher Interview Form, Coping Strategies Scale Short Form (CSS-SF) and Resilience Scale (RS).
The findings of the study were discussed and interpreted in the light of the relevant literature and researches about the subject. It was found that; %67,6 of the participants were female, %74,1 of them were bachelor's degree, half of them were young adults, %38 of them were social workers, half of the them had 1 to 5 years of experience in terms of professional and child welfare experience. It was concluded that almost all of the participants needed in-service training and the number of those receiving training was not low.
The results showed that the resilience of the professionals was moderate level. It was concluded that there was no significant relationship between the total score taken from RS and the socio-demographic and professional characteristics of the professions (p>0,05). It has been found that the most frequently used methods of coping with the difficulties according to CSS-SF are problem-focused and emotion-focused coping methods. The variables related to the socio-demographic characteristics and professional characteristics of the professions were examined together with the seven sub-dimensions most commonly used in the CSS-SF. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between age variable with the DSDK and DOK sub-dimensions, gender variable with the DOK sub-dimensions, terms of office with ASDK, PL, DOK and DSDK sub-dimensions (p <0.05). Finally, the relationship between total score of CSS-SF and RS was investigated. According to the general result of the research; it has been observed that the professionals tries to maintain their resilience through training and individual coping methods. It has been concluded that institutional methods to build resilience are quite low. It was found that the emotion-focused coping method was more effective at the resilience level of the professionals.
