Substance addiction has become a constantly increasing social problem. The issue investigated in the study is the process of stigmatization of those who are substance addicts. Stigmatization happens to individuals who acts out of the norm or display transgressive behavior. By being stigmatized, the individual is punished by the society. In this regard, finding whether a substance addict individual is stigmatized or not, and if there are any effects of stigmatization on substance addiction if the individual is stigmatized are the central point of investigation of this study. Participants in the study are the drug users who completed or still undergoing the treatment process in Ankara. 20 volunteer drug users who are treated in HİGED and UBAM in Ankara were interviewed through snowball sampling. A theme analysis was done in order to analyze the qualitative data by MAXODA 11. The results showed that all participants experienced stigmatization, as a result of which the process of addiction was observed to be affected negatively and substance addicts are hindered from escaping the cycle of addiction.
