ABSTRACT
KAÇMAZ ATEŞ, Özlem. Interaction of Inner-External Nature,
Proficiency in Art
Thesis, Ankara, 2018
The subject of this assertation is to investigate how the inner world, which we
describe as “inner-nature”, is expressed in the past and present with the
“external-nature” elements of our existence; and in parallel, with the applied
works, is to reflect the journey to the inner world.
In the art that creates a special existence and catharsis space to human;
existing in the depths of the mind, been recorded to the subconscious codes
and traces of having a holistic relationship with the nature in tens of thousands
of years reveals itself. The external-nature has always been a source of
inspiration and curiocity for the human being born in the lap of the nature; the
magical relationship between them has turned into ecology of images showing
a subject in art. In the applications, the trees have been transformed into
portrait-like images; timbre of childhood memories, different emotions and
thought patterns have been hidden in compositions. In the compositions,
through the internalization of nature-based images; social tragedies, fears,
concerns, memories, hopes, enthusiasm have been expressed.
The “inner-nature” of the subject's feelings, thoughts, knowledge and
experiences, intuition and the subconscious; born in the field of art is hidden in
images. Images appearing as powerful indicators of the introverted point of
view, as referring to the creative subject; have multi layered meanings. External
reality, by transforming into the secret rooms of the mind turns into a new body.
The richness that the creative subject assimilates from the unconscious depths,
detaches the image from its real context;
throws it into the field of possibilities.
The artist who is capturing living, taking it into the memory, transforming it into a
form, separates images from their own contexts and bring them into existence
as an extension of his/her inner reality. Nature becomes something else in art;
within the images that create the area of their presence, the inner world of the
subject and the struggle for existence are hidden.
The constituent gap within the
image that emerges from the interaction of the inner nature and the external
nature opens into the well of presence of the subject. The tones of the subject
creating the image and onlooking, resonates in this well.
In the topography of images distilled from nature, the journey to discover the
existence of the subject continues under the guidance of unconscious readings.
The image born in this process breaks the relations of representation; it forces
imagination and invites you to the game of existence.
