Ankara İlindeki Üniversitelere Bağlı Anaokullarında Bulunan 2005-2017 Yılları Arasında Basılmış Resimli Öykü Kitaplarının Duygusal Okuryazarlık Açısından İncelenmesi

Koçak, DC. Investigation of Illustrated Story Books Published Between 2005-2017 in the Kindergartens Attached to Universities in Ankara in Terms of Emotional Literacy, Hacettepe University Child Development and Education Program, Master Thesis, Ankara 2018. This research has been carried out to investigate the illustrated story books published between 2005-2017 in the kindergartens attached to universities in Ankara in terms of emotional literacy. The universe of the research is created from 658 picture books which obtained from the kindergartens’ book lists. The sample of the research has been established by 227 picture books which were selected by random sampling method. Data from the research was collected through “Investigation The Illustrated Story Books In Terms Of Emotional Literacy” form which was developed by the researcher based on literature review and expert opinion. The emotion classes that Goleman (2017) made, were taken into account in the creation of the form. Through the form, the data of the books were determined in terms of their including the title, the author and author’s gender, illustrator, translator, subject, theme, message, main character, side character, publisher, year of printing, number of prints of the illustrated story books’, it was determined whether there were emotional clusters observed in books and appropriate and whether the content characteristics of the books were appropriate in terms of emotional literacy. In the study, a mixed method was used in which quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied together. "Variation" design was used to quantify qualitative data and analyze quantitative data before combining pattern research designs. The quantitative part of the research is a descriptive study in the screening model. In the qualitative part of the study, a document analysis method was used. Descriptive statistics methods (frequency, percentage and average) and 7nonparametric tests, which are Mann Whitney-U test and Chi-square test, were used to analyse the data. As a result; it has been found that there is reasonable difference between Turkish illustrated story books and the translated ones (p<0,05) in terms of reflecting emotional literacy. According to the research results, the most frequent emotion used in illustrated books were Pleasure Emotion Cluster (Happiness, Joy, Enthusiasm, Excitement, Fun, Gladness) while the least frequent one was Anger Emotion Cluster (Rage, Fury, Irritability, Disturbance). Additionally; it has been found that there is not a reasonable difference considering the genders of the authors of analysed illustrated books in terms of reflecting emotional literacy according to the average points. Collected data was discussed considering the principle of being convenience of children literature and emotional literacy in early childhood.
