Tekeci, Y Investıgatıon Of The Effects Of Occupatıon-Based Self-Regulatıon Program On Ocuupatıonal Performance In Preschool Chıldren Wıth Screen Addıctıon, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences Occupational Therapy Department of Doctor of Philosophy Thesis, Ankara, 2024. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an occupation-based self- regulation programme for screen-addicted preschool children on occupational performance. Two groups of ten people with screen addiction were included in the study. Screen time measurement, Problematic Media Use Scale, Head-Toes-Knee- Shoulder Instructions (HTKS), Dunn Sensory Profile, Short Child Roles Activities and Tasks Profile and Canadian Occupation Performance Measure were used in our study. The intervention was implemented for 8 weeks, two sessions per week. When the development of the two groups before and after the intervention was compared, screen time, problematic media use scale, auditory processing, visual processing, vestibular processing, multisensory processing, endurance/tonus related processing, movement and body position regulations, movement regulations related to activity level, regulation of sensory inputs affecting emotional responses, regulation of visual inputs affecting emotional responses and activity level, sensory and social responses, items defining the threshold for responding, recording, sensory input seeking, inattention/distraction, sensory sensitivity, sedentary, perceptual fine motor skills, HTKS, Short Child Roles Activities and Tasks Profile - will and habits domains, behavioural consequences of sensory processing, exploration, sensitivity, avoidance, sensory response, oral sensory sensitivity, Short Child Roles Activities and Tasks Profile - communication and interaction skills domains were found statistically significant (p<0.05). The intervention programme applied in our study may be beneficial for the development of executive functions, self-regulation, sensory processing and literacy performance in preschool children. It is thought that it will be important to consider screen addiction in the evaluation and intervention process in preschool children.
