One of the biggest ongoing problems of natural stone mining, which has rich reserves in our country, has been the waste generated during production. Many studies have been carried out to bring waste natural stones -which are not valued compared to commercial natural stones with economic value- into the economy, but their usage areas have not become frequent. The reasons for this may be that the mining industry does not show sufficient interest in this issue, the wastes have not value compared to commercial stones, the studies on the subject are not continuous, and the quarry owners do not pay much attention to this issue.
Natural stone waste is generally studied into two groups: waste produced during production in quarries and waste produced during processing in factories. These wastes can be used in many different sectors depending on their chemical properties, colors, particle sizes and shapes. In some cases, these wastes may not be used directly. In this case, it can be used by applying some processes.
This thesis study was carried out by examining the marble powder/dust generated during processing in factories, with the aim of bringing these marble wastes into the economy and increasing their usability. Within the scope of the study, samples were taken from different natural stone processing factories in Turkey. Partical size, XRD and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analyzes were applied to these samples. The data obtained as a result of these analyzes were compared with the data in the literature and the chemical properties of natural stones, and in which areas they could be used according to the average particle size of the samples were examined. As a result of the analyzes, it has been determined that these wastes, which have economic value, can be used in different industries.
