In this study, basically an endangered language is examined in the Teleut paradigm. Dangerousness status of an endangered language, Teleut is discussed and it has been tried to be determine the usage areas of Teleut for this purpose. Environmental factors and speaker attitudes that affect the process of a language in a danger with the perspective of the participants. In addition, the situation of revitalization works for the Teleut is described with the school support in these studies and the role of civil society organization and also the perspective of the participants.
The use of qualitative research methods has been criticized, a trial survey may be conducted between 15 May and 15 October 2013. Teleuts, who live in the Kemerovo region, was selected as a sample, for detailed interviews with 84 participants and 2 focus group interviews. In addition, the explanations of the factors that lead to the language shift are also included in the data obtained by the participant observation technique.
This study, which was prepared both theoretically and practically, was formed on two main topics. In the theoretical part, concepts related to a language threat process and the theories developed for it are emphasized. In the field survey section, comments on the danger situation of the telegram are described and explained in the framework of the interviews.
The main results obtained from this study are; The main factors in the process of being in danger of Teleut are the demographic minority, the language of education is being Russian, the increase of mixed marriages, the abandonment of traditional lifestyles, and the existence of monolingualism in the socio-economic areas. In addition to these factors, Teleut has not been used in the urban environment, but it has reached the result that older age groups are used as a ceremonial language in domestic communication in the rural environment and on a symbolic holiday. Teleut is used only in advanced age groups as religion. The results of the last thirty-year revitalization work on Teleut have not gone beyond the symbolic value.
