The aim of this study was to compare TNF-α, IL-1β, IL- 6, IL17 and IL-10 levels in the peri-implant crevicular fluid(PICF) between the group of implants with peri-implantitis and peri-implanter healthy implants and determine which one plays a more effective role in peri- implantitis pathogenesis. A total of 40 implants – 20 healty implants (HI) and 20 implants with peri-implantitis (PI) - found in 32 patients were included in this study and PICF samples were obtained from these implants. ; TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL17 ve IL-10 levels of the obtained PICF samples were evaluated with Luminex 200TM by using Human Cytokin Plex kit. Within these cytokines, it was seen that there was no statistical difference in the IL-17 level between HI and PI groups. Although there were significant differences between HI and PI groups at the other 4 cytokines, the highest difference in the measured cytokine values was found to be IL-1β. Furthermore a positive correlation was determined between probing depth(PD) and IL-1β level. There was no statistical relationship between other examined cytokines and probing depth. In comparison with the other examined cytokines IL-1β was regarded as a more beneficial indicator for peri-implantitis diagnosis. The understanding of cytokines role in peri- implantitis pathogenesis will make a substantial contribution to the development of establishing new treatment paradigms and disease prevention strategies.
