Bayramoğlu, C., Assesment of Reaction Time and Performance in Idiopathic Scoliosis, Hacettepe University Graduate School of Health Sciences, Master of Science Thesis in Prosthetics- Orthotics and Biomechanics Program, Ankara, 2022. The aim of study was to investigate reaction time and performance parameters in idiopathic scoliosis and compare the results with healthy subjects. Twenty four idiopathic scoliosis patients and twenty four healthy subjects aged 7-18 were included in the study. Trunk, upper extremity and lower extremity reaction time assessed with Blazepod Trainer Device. Performance parameters was assessed with closed kinetic chain upper extremity stability test, forward step-down test, timed up and go test and T test. Age and body mass index parameters of the scoliosis groups 13,582,76 years, 19,323,31 kg/m2 and control groups 13,50 2,43 years, 20,42 2,60 kg/m2. Age and body mass index were similar in both groups (p>0.05). There was a significant difference between the groups in the reaction time of the trunk, upper extremity and lower extremity (p<0.001). According to results of performance tests closed kinetic chain upper extremity stability test, forward step-down test, timed up go test and T test has been determined significant difference between the groups (p<0,001). In conclusion, it has been shown that the reaction time and performance parameters are negatively affected in idiopathic scoliosis when compared with healthy controls. Individuals with idiopathic scoliosis are seem to need assesment programs include reaction time and performance parameters. This study will guide and contribute to clinical practice by evaluating the reaction time and performance parameters of idiopathic scoliosis and determining differences with healthy groups, approriate treatment plans for idiopathic scoliosis.
