In this thesis, it is aimed to examine the mediating role of work engagement in the relationship between areas of work life and organizational citizenship behavior. The research tests an integrative model that takes into account the possible effects of different areas of work life on organizational citizenship behavior. In addition, the mediating role of work engagement in this relationship is also tested. More specifically, perceived compliance in six areas of work life (workload, fairness, reward, community, control, and values) is considered as a predictor of organizational citizenship behavior, while work engagement is considered as a mediating factor in understanding the underlying mechanism of organizational citizenship behavior. The data of the study were collected from 208 employees working in a defense industry company operating in Turkey by survey method. Relationships between variables are examined by mediation analyzes. As a result of the research, it has been seen that areas of work life have a positive effect on work engagement. Work engagement similarly predicts organizational citizenship behavior positively. While the full mediator role of work engagement was determined in the effect of five factors (fairness, reward, community, control, and values) on organizational citizenship behavior, no significant relationship was found between workload and organizational citizenship behavior.
